The Marshall County Commissioners approved two speed limit ordinance amendments on second and final readings Monday morning.
Lincoln Highway West in Plymouth from the city limits to Pioneer Drive will be reduced to 45 mph. Safety was the driving force behind the change. The same idea was behind the reduction of the speed limit on 3B Road between Birch and Beech Roads.
The commissioners suspended the rules and adopted those ordinances. The highway department was notified to change the signs as soon as possible.
In addition, Highway Administrator Laurie Baker requested permission to advertise for a heavy equipment operator.
The fuel contract lock-in price was also discussed. The commissioners approved a motion to allow the highway department to lock in the contract with North Central Co-op for gasoline and diesel fuel.
Keys and pin numbers for the pumps will be distributed to the highway department workers and each county department that gets fuel from the highway department will need to purchase their own keys and pin numbers in order to obtain fuel.
