Fresh Food Bill Clears Senate Committee
A bill authored by a local lawmaker to help provide fresh food to underserved areas will move to the full Senate for consideration. The measure, sponsored by Sen. Randy Head, R-Logansport, would allow the State Department of Health to help new and existing businesses and nonprofits offer fresh and unprocessed foods to communities in food deserts, which are underserved geographic areas where affordable and healthy foods are difficult to obtain. Senator Responds to Lower ISTEP+ Scores
At least one state lawmaker has weighed in on the significant drop in ISTEP+ scores. Sen. Randy Head, R-Logansport, represents the southern portion of Marshall County. He says low scores are a result of the new, more difficult test being graded against the same expectations as the old test.
