Independence Day is just around the corner and there’s a chance you or your neighbors may have already broken out the fireworks. There’s nothing wrong with celebrating a little early, as long as you’re doing it safely.

In 2017, there were more than 90 fireworks-related injuries that were almost similar to the ones fund injured in a car accident, reported in Indianan on the Fourth of July, with one third of those involving someone under the age of 18. With the level of injuries increasing it is up to the people and government to set up a few rules in the usage of fireworks. Marshall County Health Department Urging Residents to Use Caution During Clean Up and Recovery

As individuals transition from reacting to recovering, Marshall County Health officials are urging residents to use extreme caution while dealing with floodwaters.

In a statement released today, Marshall County Health Department Administrator Christine Stinson said the flood of 2018 will most certainly leave devastation behind. She added that though everyone will want to clean up and repair their homes and communities as quickly as possible, we must remember that floodwaters and the remains of floodwaters are dangerous to your health. Winter Weather Preparedness Week

It is Winter Weather Preparedness Week and the Indiana Department of Homeland Security is encouraging Hoosiers to become better equipped to deal with the approaching winter season.

IDHS provided a couple of tips to help inspire individuals to be actively involved with winter preparedness now through November 18th.

Use this week to create or maintain a home readiness kit that may be needed during winter storms. Kits should include a first aid kit and necessary medications, extra clothing, shoes and blankets as well as copies of important documents such a photo ID and Social Security cards. It would be helpful to have a battery-powered or hand crank radio and flashlight. Also include food and water for up to three days, with one gallon of water per person per day. Continue reading

ISP Provides Driving Safety Tips for Harvest Season

As harvest season is upon us, it is important for rural drivers to be cautious of the increased amount of farm machinery on the roadways. Large farm implements often need extra space on the road so motorists should be prepared to slow down, pull over or stop to avoid collisions.

Online Hacking Is On The Rise

Hackers are accessing personal info by using misleading text messages as well as spy apps. “Spy apps” are designed to help parents keep track of their children or reduce the likelihood of infidelity in relationships however some people misuse them to access your email, text messages, call logs and even your current location. Unfortunately these apps are hard to detect and run invisibly in the background, fortunately there must be a physical installation. So as long as you know and trust anyone who has access to your phone, this is not something you should be worried about.
