Bids Opened for Street and Sidewalk Projects in Plymouth

Bids were opened Monday night for proposed surface treatment projects and street and sidewalk projects in Plymouth this spring.

Plymouth City Engineer Rick Gaul explained that one bid was received for the surface treatment projects. Gaul said he contacted six microsurface companies to submit bids for the projects, but only one bid was received. Pavement Solutions, Inc. bid $240,788.98. Gaul asked the Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety members to take the bid under consideration to ensure it meets all requirements.

Microsurface Project to Begin This Week

The microsurface project in Plymouth will begin a few days early.

Chris Oakes, owner of Pavement Solutions, Inc., said work will begin mid-week to level and surface course Oakhill Avenue from S. Michigan Street to the city limits near the waste water and public works offices. Flaggers will be directing traffic and one lane of traffic will remain open at all times. This process should take three days, weather permitting.

Concrete Portion of Microsurfacing Project in Plymouth Nearly Complete

The removal and replacement of concrete as part of the microsurfacing project in Plymouth will be done on Monday or Tuesday. According to Pavement Solutions, Inc. Owner Chris Oakes, E&B Paving is on schedule with this part of the project.

Existing pavement markings will be removed and replaced with temporary paint markings. That process will begin on Monday, June 5. Work will be done by Traffic Control Specialists of Knox on Oak Street from U.S. 30 to State Road 17, Jefferson Street from west of the Oak Street intersection to 5th Street, and Oakhill Avenue from South Michigan Street to city limits.
