Whether or not there will be criminal charges stemming from last month’s fatal crash involving an Eastern Pulaski school bus will depend on input from a Marshall County grand jury. Owen Abbott, 13, was killed, when the school bus he was riding on was reportedly struck from behind, by a truck driven by Tylor Perry.

Eastern Pulaski school officials expressed their grief and thanked the community for its support, during Monday’s school board meeting. It was the board’s first meeting since the bus accident that claimed the life of eighth grader Owen Abbott and left several others injured.
A wrongful death lawsuit has been filed in connection with last week’s bus crash that claimed the life of Winamac Middle School student Owen Abbott. According to documents filed in Marshall Circuit Court Tuesday, Abbott’s mother, Britni Fritz, is suing the driver of the truck that allegedly crashed into the bus, along with the truck’s owner.
The Winamac Middle School student who passed away as a result of Wednesday morning’s fatal crash near Argos has been identified as 13-year-old Owen M. Abbott.
Marshall County Coroner John Grolich noted that he was pronounced deceased at the scene. An autopsy is scheduled to be performed on Thursday, December 6th. Continue reading
