Improvements at the Marshall County Jail suddenly had to be expanded to include electrical upgrades. Earlier this year, the County Council appropriated $14,000 to add dropped ceilings in the jail lobby, in an effort to improve climate control, lower utility costs, and solve noise issues. Only one candidate has filed to run for the Marshall County Council District 1 seat recently vacated by Sheriff Matt Hassel. Republican Party leaders chose him to replace the late Tom Chamberlin. Hassel had to resign from the council before he could be sworn in. Continue reading
