A bill that would shift control of wind and solar farm developments from counties to the state continues to move forward in the Indiana General Assembly. House Bill 1381 passed out of the House Wednesday by a vote of 58-to-38. It now goes to the Indiana Senate for further consideration.

Senate Bill 42 would prohibit local entities from cutting budgets for police, fire, or other public safety services, unless there’s a revenue shortfall or the property tax levy is reduced.

A state senator is stepping down and taking over as Pulaski County’s chief deputy prosecutor. Randy Head announced Monday that he’ll be leaving the State Senate August 12. The Logansport Republican has represented Senate District 18 since 2008. His district currently includes Cass, Fulton, and part of Marshall County.
