The Marshall County Highway Department is moving ahead with financing for the lease purchase of new trucks.
Earlier this year, the county was approached by Republic First National Bank to discuss lease financing for road maintenance equipment. The Marshall County Commissioners at the time stated they were used to purchasing equipment at the highway department outright.
Marshall County is preparing to start some of its road projects after being awarded with Community Crossings grant funds.
During Tuesday morning’s Marshall County Commissioners meeting, Highway Supervisor Jason Peters says that the companies tasked with the work have given verbal indications they’re ready to begin.
The Marshall County Highway Department was able to show a cost savings when it comes to road repairs and maintenance.
During Monday morning’s Marshall County Council meeting, Highway Superintendent Jason Peters provided comparables with the amount of patch and materials used. Marshall County agreed to the purchase of a PUG Mill this year. The machine is used for mixing materials in the production of road patch.

The Marshall County Commissioners will receive a quarterly report from the Emergency Management Agency at their meeting, Monday.
EMA Director Clyde Avery will be providing a monthly report to the commissioners. Recent storms in the Marshall County area coincide with the report – which will allow Avery to expand on any damages seen in Marshall County.
