Local Fire Departments Team Up to Battle House Fire Near Tippecanoe Thursday Morning

The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department Dispatch Center confirmed that a fire broke out at a home in the 4000 block of 7B Road early Thursday morning. Tippecanoe Fire Firefighters were dispatched to the scene around 8:25 a.m.

The Argos, Bourbon and Mentone Fire Departments assisted with the incident. Mentone PD stated that their fire department responded to the call at 8:30 a.m. and cleared the scene a few hours later around 11 a.m. Continue reading

Marshall County Commissioners Consider Updates to Plymouth’s Central Dispatch Agreement

911Marshall County is putting the finishing touches on its centralized emergency dispatch service. Starting January 1, Marshall County will officially take over dispatch services for most areas in the county. A committee has been formed to help divide the cost of the service among the county, towns, and other local government units. Continue reading

Culver Signs Central Dispatch Agreement

culver-town-hallThe Town of Culver has agreed to sign a contract with Marshall County to provide dispatch services to the community.

It was decided earlier this year that Marshall County would share the cost burden with its local communities and Townships given the cost of new equipment. A board has been formed to oversee the centralized dispatch service and determine its usage and cost sharing methods.

Town Officials Request Meeting with Marshall County Over Dispatch Costs

The Marshall County Commissioners reviewed community contract costs for 911 Dispatch services, but a communication mix-up caused quite a stir with Town officials.

The contracts were set-out in an attempt to define how computer systems and operations for the new system will work. The costs for paying that service were recommended to be split depending on the percentage of calls received.
