Executive Action on Guns Draws Divided Reaction

Following statements made this week from the executive branch, Republican Senator Dan Coats said the President is trying to “sidestep Congress” to legislate. Coats went as far as to say that the changes proposed through executive action are unconstitutional.

Congresswoman Promotes Tax Deduction Incentive to Combat Food Insecurity

Congresswoman Jackie Walorski was in Mishawaka yesterday to promote a tax deduction sought for permanent extension.

According to a press release, the U.S. House of Representatives passed legislation that encourages donations. The bill, also known as the Fighting Hunger Incentive Act permanently extends the deduction for businesses to donate food inventory to local food pantries.

Congresswoman Supports Measure Defunding Recent Executive Action

Jackie_Walorski,_official_portrait,_113th_CongressIndiana’s 2nd District Congresswoman is supporting a provision in the Homeland Security Appropriations Act that she hopes will help maintain the separation of powers in Washington.

The 114th Congress was sworn-in earlier this month following the November elections. With Republicans in the majority, Congresswoman Jackie Walorski says she voted to support the legislation – which appropriates funds for the operation of Homeland Security.
