Marshall County Commissioners to Meet Today

The Marshall County Commissioners will have several discussion items before them when they meet this morning.

Argos Clerk-Treasurer Lisa Mullaney will discuss an intergovernmental agreement for planning services. Clerk Deb Vandemark, acting on behalf of the Marshall County Election Board, will present a contract with Microvote and Brian Kubicki will have an annual agreement with Gibson Insurance for approval. Treasurer Angie Birchmeier will have a tax billing contract proposal from Worrell Corp. and Planning Director Ralph Booker will present a right-of-way dedication for approval for Carl Stockberger.

Marshall County Commissioners Approve Ordinance Violation Fines

Marshall County Attorney Jim Clevenger presented the commissioners this week with a ticket format for fines and fine amounts for ordinance violations.

Sheriff Matt Hassel and Clerk Deb Vandemark asked that the commissioners set more definitive fines for ordinance offenses such as curfew violation, junk vehicles, open burning, and animals running at large.

Marshall County Council Considers EMA, Clerk Requests

The county will receive funds for the emergency management agency director’s salary.

Marshall County EMA Director Clyde Avery asked the county council this week for permission to apply for the 2016 performance grant. Avery explained that the grant will pay for half of his salary from last year in the amount of $22,000. It’s an annual grant that the county receives every year as Avery qualifies for certain requirements during the year. The council approved the request and complimented him on his continued efforts as head of the EMA.

E-Poll Books to be Used in November Election

E-poll books will be used in this November’s Municipal General Election in Marshall County.

The county council Monday morning approved an additional appropriation for the purchase of 15 iPads at a cost of $35,010. The appropriation was advertised prior to the council’s unanimous approval. The iPads will be outfitted with the necessary software to be used for voters to sign in at the polls.

Marshall County Clerk Requests Money for E-Poll Books

The Marshall County Council members held a lengthy discussion about the purchase of e-poll books for the November election.

Clerk Deb Vandemark explained that 15 iPads would be purchased to be placed at all of the voting sites for the purpose of signing in voters at the polls. There are 14 poll sites for the county’s 29 precincts. One extra iPad would be on hand as a backup.
