Seven Jailed Following Joint Highway Patrol Effort
Seven people were taken to jail, following a joint effort to improve the safety of area highways. For a four-hour period Monday, officers from the Marshall and Starke County Sheriff’s Departments, Plymouth Police Department, and Indiana State Police teamed up to patrol the U.S. 30 and U.S. 31 areas, according to the Plymouth Police Department. Marshall County is under a yellow level travel advisory due to several flooded roads. That means routine travel or activities may be restricted in some areas due to a hazardous situation. National Weather Service Issues Local Flood Warning
A flood warning is in effect for much of the area until mid-afternoon. Areas covered by the warning from the National Weather Service include Starke, Northwestern Marshall, Northwestern Pulaski, Southeastern LaPorte and St. Joseph Counties. Since yesterday, between 4 and 8 inches of rain have fallen over the warning area, with additional showers expected to bring between one-fourth and one-half inch of additional rainfall.
