LeRoy D. Gudeman, 95 years old of Knox, Indiana passed away peacefully at home with his wife at his side on Wednesday, October 6th.
He was born May 25, 1926 in Francesville, Indiana to Josesph B. Gudeman and Huldah Hannah (Getz) Gudeman.
On July 21, 1990, at the United Methodist Church in Knox he married the love of his life, Diana Kay Crecelius.
After graduating from I.U. Law School in Indianapolis, LeRoy entered the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1957. That same year he moved to Knox and began practicing law until his retirement in 2014. He was a member of the Starke County Bar Association, the Indiana Bar Association, and a former Starke County Deputy Prosecutor. LeRoy served on the Knox School Board for several years and was involved in several organizations through out Starke County: Kiwana’s, the Northern Indiana Community Foundation, the Toastmaster’s Club and was a life time member of the American Legion and VFW.
He attended church at Heartland Christian Center in North Judson.
In his past time, he loved to golf and made sure he had no court dates on Thursday afternoons so he could be on the golf course with his buddies. LeRoy loved to travel with his wife and one of his goals was to travel all seven continents and he succeeded.
LeRoy had such an infectious smile, was kind and a friend to all. He was a gentleman in every sense of the word and he loved and served his community, well. He ran his race and he won. He will surely be missed.
Surviving are his wife: Diana Kay Gudeman of Knox. Son: Jay of Raleigh, North Carolina, Son: Jerry (Mindy) of Santa Clara, California, Son: Tom of Freeville, New York, Son: Jason (Jen) of Indianapolis, Indiana, Son: Shane (Emiley) of Knox, Indiana, Daughter: Mary Ann of Bloomington, Indiana and Daughter: Dr. Susan Laenger (Dietmar) of Pensacola, Florida. 12 Grand Children: Nathan, Augusta and Margaux Gudeman, Jessica and Bickston Laenger.
Joshua, Anna, Caleb, Mariah, Cougar, Jernee and Odyn Crecelius.
He was preceded in death by son, Andrew Gudeman, parents, Joseph and Huldah Gudeman, brother Marion Gudeman, sister in law, Bertha Gudeman, sisters, Natalie Gudeman, Marjean Gudeman Wuethrich and brother in law Willis Wuetrich.
Friends will be received 4 p.m.-8 p.m. CT Monday, October 11, 2021 at the Braman and Son Memorial Chapel, Knox, Indiana.
Services will be held at Braman and Son Memorial Chapel,Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at 11 a.m. CT with Reverend James A. Young officiating.
Interment will follow at Oak Park Cemetery.
