ESTHER MARIE KLAPP
April 10, 1918 – January 21, 2018

PLYMOUTH – Esther Marie Klapp, 99, of Plymouth, went to be with our Lord on Sunday, January 21, 2018 at Pilgrim Manor.
Esther was born April 10, 1918 in Plymouth, Indiana, Esther was the eldest of nine children of the late Elzie and Valera (Palmer) Jones.
She often spoke fondly of her growing-up years with her eight brothers and sisters and had a phenomenal memory of the past. She graduated from Plymouth High School in 1936 and was an avid genealogist, a former volunteer at the Marshall County Historical Museum, and a member of Bible Baptist Church.
Esther married Charles H. Klapp on June 8, 1941 in Plymouth; he would precede her in death on June 6, 1991.
She retired in 1980 from Parkview Hospital where she worked in housekeeping.

Surviving are her six children; Sandra Ludwig of Plymouth, Donald (Ann) Klapp of Plymouth, Rosemary (Ed) Shearer of Bourbon, Marilyn (Joseph) Flowers of Columbia City, Dale Klapp of Bremen and Donna (Don) Cantrell of Evansville. Also surviving is a sister; Barbara Bayse, eleven grandchildren; Delven (Lynn) Reed, Sheryl (Tom) Freel, Michael (Cathy) Morris, Tammy Ludwig, Renee Klapp, Steve Shearer, Melanie (Reghardt) Smuts, Greg (Leslie) Flowers, Megan (Shane) Logan, Stacy Berkey Klapp, eleven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Esther was preceded in death by her husband, two daughters; Rebecca Morris, Janet Klapp, four sisters; Hazel Stickler, Mary Smith, Margaret Wolfinger, Betty Sullivan, three brothers; Charles Jones, Harry Jones, William Jones, son-in-law; Kenneth Ludwig, daughter-in-law; Pam Berkey Klapp.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 24th from 2 -3 p.m. in the Chapel at New Oak Hill Cemetery, 1300 Chester Street, Plymouth, Indiana 46563. Services will follow at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Rick Loew officiating.
Burial will follow at the Oak Hill Cemetery.
