Resolve to Recycle This Holiday Season
The “most wonderful time of the year” is also the most wasteful. The United States Environmental Protection Agency estimates Americans generate 25-million extra tons of waste between Thanksgiving and New Years Day. Indiana Recycling Coalition spokeswoman Carrie Hamilton encourages Hoosiers to consider reusing and recycling year round. INDOT Hiring Seasonal Help
The Indiana Department of Transportation is getting ready for winter. The agency is teaming up with WorkOne of northwest Indiana to hire seasonal maintenance crew members and snow plow drivers. According to a survey recently conducted by the American Red Cross, more than 40 percent of regular donors will be traveling during the weeks prior to and following Independence Day. Culver Scrutinizes Timetable for Water Treatment Facility Upgrades
A couple of meetings have been scheduled in the Town of Culver to help keep a project in line with potential funding options.
A water treatment facility has been designed, but bids for the construction and renovation of the site were delayed from earlier this month until May 21st. Due to the change, the Town of Culver has been worked to ensure its ducks are in a row.

Maxinkuckee Players Schedule “Hello, Dolly!” Auditions
Aspiring thespians can audition this weekend for a part in this summer’s Maxinkuckee Players production of “Hello, Dolly!” Auditions will take place tomorrow from 9 a.m. until noon and 1 until 5 p.m. EDT and Sunday from 2 until 6 p.m. at the Culver Community High School auditorium. If you try out, be prepared to sing a song of your choice and read from a script excerpt. A pianist and a CD player will be available for accompaniment. Continue reading
Culver Relay for Life Set for Tonight
The Culver Relay for Life event kicks off today with the survivor dinner at 5 p.m. ET on the campus of the Culver Military Academy.
The committee has been working hard to bring in more donations to help fight cancer. So far, 39 teams with 349 participants have raised $27,741 toward the cause. More donations will be accepted during the event that runs through Saturday morning at 6 a.m.
Several fundraisers are planned throughout the evening.
