IRS Offers Cash Payment Option at 7-Eleven Stores
The Internal Revenue Service is now offering taxpayers the option to pay in cash at 7-Eleven locations. The IRS says it’s partnering with ACI Worldwide’s OfficialPayments.com and the PayNearMe Company to provide the service. It lets people make payments without the need of a bank account or credit card at over 7,000 7-Eleven stores nationwide, including locations in South Bend, Mishawaka, and Griffith. Continue reading

NIPSCO Reports Increase in Phone Scams
NIPSCO is warning customers of a spike in reports of telephone scams. The company says it’s heard from a number of customers who say they’ve gotten suspicious calls from people claiming to be NIPSCO employees. Appraisals Taking Place for Monterey School Building
The former Monterey School Building is in the process of being appraised, ahead of a planned sale of the property. Culver Schools Interim Superintendent Chuck Kitchell told the school board Monday that one appraisal was completed a couple of weeks ago and another was scheduled for Tuesday of this week. Ancilla College Planning for Second Annual Day of Giving
Ancilla College will be holding its second annual Day of Giving on Friday, April 29. College officials hope to get a total goal of 200 donors to take part in this year’s event by donating online, and they’re challenging each of those donors to give $24. Development and alumni relations manager Emily Hutsell says this level of donations can change the lives of students at Ancilla, where 90 percent of students receive some sort of financial assistance.
