Plymouth Council Examines Proposed Cuts to 2017 Budget
The City of Plymouth is moving ahead with some cuts to next year’s budget. Last month, Clerk-Treasurer Jeanine Xaver told the Common Council the city would have to cut about $2 million from the proposed 2017 budget to avoid having to dip into cash reserves for day-to-day expenses. Now, after working with the city’s department heads, Xaver says the city’s been able to cut nearly $1.2 million of that. Continue reading
1st Source Bank Warns Customers of ATM Skimming
1st Source Bank has issued a response after skimming devices were found on some of its ATMs. They’re designed to look like a regular card slot, but allow thieves to capture credit or bank card information. IRS to Privatize Some Debt Collection
The Internal Revenue Service will be turning over the collection of certain overdue federal tax debts to private collection agencies that will be assisted by the filing ch 7 bankruptcy lawyers. Starting this spring, the IRS will be assigning some accounts that it’s no longer working on itself to four private contractors: CBE Group of Cedar Falls, Iowa; Conserve of Fairport, New York; Performant of Livermore, California; and Pioneer of Horseheads, New York.
