The Triton School Board approved the appointment of Andy Barker to be the school’s next head coach Monday, January 13.
Barker is a Plymouth High School graduate in the class of 2000 and played football at St. Joseph’s College where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree.
Barker has been an assistant coach at Mishawaka Marian, South Bend Riley, Plymouth, and Triton. He is a State Police Officer working at the Bremen Post District #24.
He and his wife Heidi have two children, Drew and Laura.
“We would like to thank the interview committee for their hard work and efforts during this process,” said Triton Athletic Director Rodney Younis. “We are excited to have Coach Barker continue to build upon the culture of our football program. His vision of molding our young men not only on the field but in the classroom and community as well as his attention to detail will make him a great fit for our program.”
In other actions the board reorganized for the coming year with Terry Barnhart as President, Kevin Boyer as Vice President and Steve Stichter as Secretary.
The board awarded a bit for maintenance work on the school tennis courts to Tennis Courts Unlimited. The company will fix and fill cracks on both the new and old courts and repaint the old courts to match the new ones.
The Board will continue to meet on the second Monday of the month at 7 p.m. ET.
