During the Plymouth Board of Works and Safety meeting Monday, January 13, several department heads asked for permission to seek quotes for this year’s budgeted vehicles for their departments.
Utilities Superintendent Donnie Davidson asked the board to allow quotes to replace three 3/4 ton trucks for his department.
Davidson said that the trucks would replace current pick-ups in the fleet one from 1996 one from 2004, and 2005.
Street Superintendent Jim Marquardt also asked for permission to advertise for bids on his new vehicles for the year as well. He said that his department was looking at the possibility of electric vehicles as part of the fleet as well but wanted to see the quotes first.
Police Chief John Weir also will be seeking quotes for seven new vehicles for his department. He will seek four Dodge Tahoe SUVs and is interested in two or three hybrid vehicles but wanted to see the delivery date and prices in the quotes before committing to that.
He told the board that the department had purchased a hybrid in the previous round of vehicles, and the delivery was delayed. Currently, the vehicle is not in use because it is waiting for equipment to make it a police patrol vehicle.
All the requests to seek bids were approved.
