Plymouth Police Department Officers Make Several Arrests

Officers from the Plymouth Police Department made several arrests the last few days of 2024.

On the evening of December 22, at 2 a.m. ET, Plymouth Police Department officers were dispatched to the area of Jefferson and Michigan Street for a possibly impaired driver.


The suspect vehicle was reported to be traveling south on Liberty Street from Jefferson before pulling into a yard. Plymouth Police located the vehicle in a yard with the driver still in the driver’s seat. Police say the driver, Karen Sue Matovich, 50, of South Bend, was suspected of being under the influence of alcohol and narcotics. Matovich refused field sobriety and chemical testing, resulting in a search warrant being obtained.


Matovich was taken into custody after it was determined that she had a blood alcohol concentration of nearly four times the legal limit.


She was taken into custody and transported to the Marshall County Jail on a preliminary charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated over .15 and endangering.

On Dec. 22, at 12:49 a.m. ET, Plymouth officers were dispatched to the Moose Lodge for a physical fight in progress. Officers located a large group of individuals outside of the lodge and it was determined that two separate fights had occurred prior to a 911 call being placed.


One of the subjects involved was Adrian Reed, 41, of Plymouth. Several subjects involved in the physical altercation fled the area prior to officers’ arrival.


Reed was taken into custody and transported to the Marshall County Jail and lodged on preliminary charges of battery with bodily injury and disorderly conduct.

On Thursday, Dec. 26, Plymouth officers were advised that Susie Nichols, 40, and Jared Warner, 42, both of Plymouth, had reportedly violated an active protective order.


Officers arrived on the scene and located the two suspects. The officers confirmed the protective order. Both suspects were transported and lodged at the Marshall County Jail for invasion of privacy.

On the morning of December 26, at 1:20 a.m. ET, Plymouth Police Department officers were dispatched to the 1500 block of Harrison Street for the report of an individual being threatened.
It was determined a domestic disturbance had taken place, according to the report.


Otis Young, 44, of Plymouth, was lodged in the Marshall County Jail on preliminary charges of domestic battery, interfering with the reporting of a crime, intimidation, and criminal confinement.

On Dec. 28, at 2:30 a.m. ET, Plymouth Police was dispatched to the area of Taco Bell for a possibly impaired driver.


Officers observed a black Chrysler 300 near the intersection of Michigan St. and Jefferson St. and a traffic stop initiated on Michigan St. near Alexander St. for speeding.


The driver was identified as Alan Cantero, 20, of Plymouth. While speaking with Cantero, officers reportedly detected the odor of alcoholic beverages. Cantero was removed from the vehicle, and standardized field sobriety testing was conducted.


Cantero was then offered a preliminary breath test which resulted in .134%. He was transported to St. Joseph Hospital where a certified test was completed and then transported to the Marshall County Jail, where he was lodged for operating while intoxicated with BAC above .150% and minor consumption of alcohol.

Suspects are considered innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
