Plymouth Mayor Robert Listenberger proclaimed January 17th to January 25th, 2025 as ‘Be a Good Neighbor Week’ in honor of Marshall County Neighborhood Center Director Christine Garner’s 50th birthday.
Mayor Listenberger’s proclamation states:
“Marshall County is set to celebrate ‘Be a Good Neighbor Week’ from January 17th, 2025, through January 25th, 2025, in honor of Christine Garner’s milestone 50th birthday.
Chris has always exemplified what it means to be a good neighbor, consistently going above and beyond to support her community with kindness, generosity, and compassion.
As we prepare for this special week, we invite everyone to join in and participate, embodying the spirit of neighborly love that Chris has so wonderfully demonstrated. Small acts of kindness, whether lending a helping hand to a neighbor in need, sharing a meal, or simply offering a friendly smile, can have a profound impact on someone’s day—and potentially their life. This celebration is not only a tribute to Chris but also an opportunity for all of us to reflect on how we can contribute positively to the lives of those around us. Let’s come together as a community to honor Chris and share in her goodwill by committing ourselves to being good neighbors.
By the power entrusted in me as the Mayor of Plymouth, Indiana, I, Robert Listenberger, officially proclaim this week “Be A Good Neighbor” week. I challenge each of us to make a difference in someone’s life by some act of kindness.
And I want to wish Christine Garner the happiest of birthdays!”
Individuals who want to participate in ‘Be a Good Neighbor Week’ are invited to pick up a ‘Flat Chris’ at the Center to take selfies with as they do their random acts of kindness throughout the week.
Garner is excited about promoting the Center’s annual fundraiser, Marshall County Neighborhood Center’s Dancing with the Stars 2025 which will be held on Saturday, February 8th at Swan Lake Resort starting at 6 p.m. Dancers will compete to raise money for the Center where in just 2024 3,295 food baskets were served, 350 new households registered for assistance, there were 1,313 visits to the Clothing Closet, 4,247 individuals received clothing, $33,957.67 was spent for food, 169 families in Marshall County were adopted for Christmas, and 3,270 volunteer hours were logged.
