The Plymouth Board of Works and Safety opened bids for two departments in their regular meeting on Monday night.
The city received bids from local contractors for this year’s street paving projects with four companies responding.
Niblock Excavating put in a bid of $1,352,906.25 for all the street projects, Milestone had a bid of $1,285,379.68, E&B Paving had a bid of $1,198,224.28, and Rieth-Riley bid $1,235,808.
The bids were taken under advisement to allow City Engineer Chris Marshall a chance to review each and determine the lowest responsible bid. He will make his recommendation at the next Board of Works meeting.
The city opened bids for seven new police cars in the budget for the coming year. Police Chief John Wier received quotes from two dealers.
Oliver Ford of Plymouth bid hybrid Explorers at a per-vehicle cost of $46,822. An alternate item in the bid was for “ballistic” or bulletproof front doors on the vehicles at a cost of $2980 per vehicle.
Kelly Chevrolet bid Tahoes at a cost of $52,160 each and did not offer a bid on the alternate.
Those bids were also taken under advisement to examine them for the lowest responsible bid.
The next meeting for the Board of Works and Safety will be Feb. 10.
