On Jan. 3, at 5:10 p.m. ET, Plymouth Police Department officers were dispatched to the area of U.S. 30 and Pioneer Dr. in reference to a three-vehicle crash.
Police arriving at the scene began gathering information and speaking with the drivers and detected the odor of alcoholic beverages from the driver of the vehicle that allegedly caused the crash, Emma Day, 23, of Fort Wayne.
Once information was gathered, Day was asked if she had any alcoholic drinks and police say she advised that she had one glass of wine prior to leaving Chicago. Day agreed to conduct standardized field sobriety testing. Three field sobriety tests were administered with Day failing two. A preliminary breath test provided a reading of .259, according to the report.
Day was transported to the local hospital for a certified test that police say resulted in a .310 blood alcohol level.
She was transported to Marshall County Jail where she was lodged on preliminary charges of operating while intoxicated endangerment, and operating while intoxicated with a BAC above .15.
Suspects are considered innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
