On Jan. 1 at 1:13 a.m. ET, the Marshall County Central Dispatch received an automated collision alert from a cell phone at Sycamore Rd. north of 9th Rd.
First responders arriving at the area found that a Kia passenger car had run north off of the roadway, over an embankment, and down a steep slope onto railroad property.
The driver and only occupant of the vehicle, Bryce P. Kessler, 27, of Walkerton, was found in the vehicle and was also found to have received a head injury during the collision, according to the report.
He was transported to a regional hospital by Plymouth Fire.
The collision is still under investigation, but alcohol is believed to have been a factor. After the investigation is concluded, a case report will be submitted to the Marshall County Prosecutor’s Office.
