On Saturday, Dec. 14, at 3:45 p.m. ET, Plymouth Police Department officers were dispatched to Saint Joseph Hospital to assist with a woman that was having a medical issue.
During the interaction, police say it was determined that Bridgette Blankenship, 45, of Leiters Ford, was possibly under the influence of methamphetamine. Blankenship was also found to have active arrest warrants through Pulaski County.
Blankenship was refusing to go into the hospital with the concerned family that had brought her but was reportedly displaying instability due to the effects of the drugs. While officers were attempting to take Blankenship into custody for the active arrest warrants, she attempted to resist and pull away, according to the report. Officers had to restrain Blankenship against the vehicle to place her into handcuffs.
While inside the hospital, Blankenship reportedly continued to fight with officers periodically, striking them on several occasions. When transported to Marshall County Jail, Blankenship continued to be combative and battered the jail staff, according to the report.
Blankenship was lodged on preliminary charges of battery on law enforcement, a Level 6 Felony, resisting arrest, a Class A misdemeanor, and the arrest warrants out of Pulaski County.
Suspects are considered innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
