Plymouth Community School Board Hears a Variety of Updates

The Plymouth Community School Board heard a variety of items in their meeting on Tuesday, many of them having to do with outdated technology.

Ted Fisher, the Director of Information and Technology, addressed the board about several needs to replace outdated equipment at Plymouth High School that is beginning to fail.

Fisher said that many of the security cameras at the school are up to 14 years old. The department has done its best to keep them operational but asked for permission to seek bids to replace the cameras.
Another outdated item was brought to the board’s attention regarding the broadcast P.A. system in the high school that is beginning to fail. He said there are portions of the school that cannot hear announcements made over the P.A. and once again the department has been doing its best to keep the current system operational.

Fisher asked for permission the seek bids for the replacement of the broadcast P.A. and pointed to a system that was recently installed at three of the elementary schools that has been very useful. The system would handle the school bells, and P.A., and also has security elements built in.

At a previous meeting, Fisher had asked to seek bids to add WiFi to the corporation’s busses but told the board that he no longer wanted to pursue that project.

In another action, the board accepted the resignation of Corporation Business Manager Steven Boyer who will be leaving to become the Director of Human Resources at Warsaw, which is his hometown.
Superintendent Mitch Mawhorter thanked Boyer for his contributions to the school corporation and wished him luck on his new endeavor.
