Plymouth Board of Works has Light Agenda

The Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety took action on several items in their regular meeting on Monday.

The Board heard from Utilities Superintendent Donnie Davidson on a new contract for leasing space on the city water tower to AT&T. The company needs to expand their equipment on the tower and asked for a new agreement for such.

AT&T proposed a fee of $700 a month for the space on the tower and corresponding space on the ground near the tower. The company already pays a 4 percent increase on the rate every year and this would be in addition to that.

Davidson recommended that the board approve the contract and they did so unanimously.

City HR director Jen Klingerman had a request for the board to amend the job description for two positions in the city. The first was for Fireman First Class the other for Fireman/Paramedic.
Currently the description has a minimum age for both positions of 21.

Plymouth Clerk-Treasurer Lynn Gorski, speaking for Klingerman, stated that she wished the minimum age be lowered to 18. With new classes in both available at Plymouth High School are producing fully trained fire and paramedic personnel at the age of 18, but with the current job description the city is unable to hire them.

The Board unanimously approved the change.

There was another change recommended to the job description for HR Director since Klingerman has taken on additional duties and the change would reflect that. The Board tabled action on that request to do more research.
