Resisting Law Enforcement with a Vehicle

A Marshall County Sheriff’s Department deputy witnessed a black 2012 Nissan passenger car traveling southbound on North Michigan Street at Baker Street, traveling 81 mph in a posted 35 mph zone Wednesday, November 6 at 12:31 a.m. ET.

The deputy got behind the vehicle and activated the emergency lights, however the vehicle failed to stop, according to the report. Police say the vehicle disregarded numerous red traffic lights southbound on Michigan Street and finally stopped at the intersection of Michigan Street and Oakhill Ave, where the driver was taken into custody.

Brianna Ellis, 31, of Michigan City, was reportedly found to be under the influence of alcohol. Police say she refused testing and a search warrant was completed, showing her blood alcohol to be over three times the legal limit.

She was taken to the Marshall County Jail.

Formal charges will be determined by the Marshall County Prosecutor’s Office.

Suspects are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
