The Plymouth Community School Board was updated on various projects around the corporation during their meeting on Monday.
PCSC Director of Facilities Dave Schoof updated the board on work at the Marshall County Career Innovation Center. In early October, the footings were poured for the automotive technology area and noted that there were some soil issues that required attention. After the foundations were set, structural steel forms began the framing of the building which started two weeks ago.
Schoof said last month, the electrical systems and exterior insulation finishing systems were completed, along with the gas mains and the walk-in cooler/freezer for the culinary education area.
The early childhood education area also continues to move forward with the scheduling of finishes for the area.
Schoof said that the current change orders on the project were well under the planned contingency fund of $120,000 at just under $45,000.
The renovations at Washington Discovery Academy are nearly complete and Schoof told the board they were able to recently refinish the gym floors at Washington and at Riverside Intermediate.
Plymouth’s Chief Technology and Information Officer, Ted Fisher, also reported to the board on his department’s activities. He said that the department replaced the corporation’s servers, which were 10-15 years old, budgeting $4,000-$6,000 per quarter for the project. IT has also added new firewall technology for added security. The new servers come with a 7-year warranty.
He asked the board for permission to put out a request for proposal (RFP) for supplying and installing fiber optic connectivity at Plymouth High School, and a second RFP for supplying of certain network equipment.
