Plymouth Board of Works Opens Bids, Sets Projects

The Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety opened bids for the annual city sidewalk projects and outlined the projects for Community Crossings Grant money in the coming year in their Tuesday meeting.

Plymouth City Engineer Dan Sellers opened bids for the city’s sidewalk projects for the coming year to open the meeting.

Phend and Brown came in with the low bid for the projects at $330,861, followed by E&B Paving with $390,689.90, and finally Milestone at $401,115.35.

Sellers asked to take the bids under advisement to review them and then award the project to the lowest responsible bidder.

Later in the meeting Sellers outlined the projects earmarked for Community Crossings Grant money around the city.
The projects will be:
Lincolnway East – Jefferson St. to City limits
S. Michigan St. – Oakhill Ave. to Yellow River Bridge
Lake St. – S. Michigan St. to Gideon St.
Laporte St. – Fifth St. to Ben Lane (Dead End)
Seventh St. – Lake Ave. To Laporte St.
Garro St. – Third St. to Fifth St.
Nursery St. – Rose St. to S. Michigan St.
Marlou Place – Dead End to Pennsylvania St.
Roy St. – Gibson St. to Lincolnway East
Gideon St. – Pennsylvania St. to Dead End

The grant is for $647,181.98 and is a 50 percent match with the city providing the other half. The estimated total for the projects will be $1.2 million.

The Board was told that the Harrison Street Trail project will be part of the next round of Community Crossings Grant funding in 2026. The engineering for the project is not complete and so therefore the city will have to wait for the July window of grant applications.
