The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department was notified of a car/train crash on King Road just south of 1st Road Friday, October 4 just at about 10 p.m. ET.
The driver and only occupant of the vehicle, 68-year-old Laura Shoemaker, of Bremen, was pronounced dead at the scene. Police say the vehicle was struck on the passenger side by the train and was thrown to the east and came to rest on the south side of the tracks approximately 50 yards east of King Road.
The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department was assisted at the scene by the Marshall County Coroner, LaPaz Fire and EMS, CSX Railroad Inspectors, and CSX Railroad Police.
