Impaired Driver Arrested

On the morning of Sunday, Oct. 20 at 12:35 a.m. ET, an off-duty Plymouth Police Department officer was traveling west on Lincoln Highway and observed a vehicle recklessly traveling east on Lincoln Highway and crossing the line.

A traffic stop was conducted in the 15,000 block of Lincoln Highway and the driver was identified as Arturo Mendez-Montalvo, 29, of Plymouth. Mendez-Montalvo showed signs of impairment and was detained pending further investigation. He was transported to the Marshall County Jail where a translator assisted with translating portions of the sobriety testing. Police say Mendez-Montalvo was transported to the hospital for jail clearance where his alcohol level was found to be nearly four times the legal limit.

Mendez-Montalvo has pending charges of misdemeanor operating a vehicle without a license, operating a vehicle while intoxicated-endangering, and operating a vehicle while intoxicated over .15.

Formal charges will be determined by the Marshall County Prosecutor’s Office.

Suspects are considered innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
