Officers with the Plymouth Police Department and Marshall County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to the area of U.S. 31 and Veterans Parkway Wednesday, September 4 at 6:37 p.m. ET for a vehicle that was traveling west on Veteran’s Parkway and that the driver, according to the caller, appeared to be beating himself up or having a seizure.
Officers were able to locate the vehicle traveling east on U.S. 30 and observed the vehicle go off the side of the road and the driver moving all over inside the vehicle. Officers conducted a traffic stop, and the driver was later identified as Blake Tipton, 26, of Silver Lake.
Officers conducted field sobriety on the driver, and the driver then submitted to a certified blood draw, according to the report. Police say it was determined that Tipton was under the influence of methamphetamine. Tipton was then transported to the Marshall County Jail where he was booked on preliminary charges of operating while intoxicated, and operating while intoxicated on a controlled substance.
Formal charges will be determined by the Marshall County Prosecutor’s Office.
Suspects are considered innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
