Operating while Intoxicated

On Friday,​ Sept. 6 at 2:23 a.m.,​ Marshall County Dispatch received a call about a single-vehicle accident on U.S. 31 north of 9A Road Friday, September 6 at 2:23 a.m. ET.


A deputy from the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department responded to the scene and found that a silver 2014 Hyundai Elantra had been traveling southbound on U.S. 31 and left the roadway on the west side of U.S. 31 in the southbound lanes, according to the report. Police say the vehicle struck a street light and State Highway sign before hitting an embankment.


The vehicle sustained front-end damage and airbag deployment. ​The driver of the vehicle,​ Keegan J. Silveus,​ 22, was reportedly found to be under the influence of alcohol. ​Field sobriety testing was completed and a blood draw was done,​ showing his alcohol level to be almost two times the legal limit,according to the report. ​He was taken to the Marshall County Jail.

Formal charges will be determined by the Marshall County Prosecutor’s Office.

Suspects are considered innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
