The Triton School Board members have decided to change their insurance carrier for property, liability and workman’s compensation to Miller Insurance.
The board heard from Superintendent Jeremy Riffle on the comparison of Miller Insurance with their current carrier ESCRFT (Educational Services Centers Risk Funding Trust) saying that the corporation should see significant savings. The Educational Services Centers Risk Funding Trust required 90 days notice of termination so the switch to Miller will not take place until January.
Riffle told the board that the start of school has been successful so far and said that he was pleased with the interaction and positive feedback that he has seen, saying that he was very pleased with the teaching staff and their professionalism, and the interaction with the students and with other staff members early in the school year.
The board passed the status quo teacher contracts, meaning teachers will keep the same contract that they currently have until collective bargaining takes place in October at which time they will write another contract that will give them retroactive pay from the beginning of the school year.
The board also named Ashli Faulkner as the new girl’s basketball coach. Faulkner will take over for Kennedy Krull who accepted a graduate assistant coaching position at Georgia Southern University.
Olivia Weymouth was named as the new girl’s golf coach for Triton.
The board also moved their October meeting to Oct. 7. The normal meeting date of Oct. 14 falls during fall break for the corporation.
