Officers with the Plymouth Police Department conducted a traffic stop Sunday, July 28 at 12:51 a.m. ET at U.S. 30 and Oak Drive on a vehicle reportedly traveling 80 mph in a 50 mph zone.
The driver was identified as Samuel Gbortsu, 43, of South Bend. It was determined that Gbortsu had been drinking, according to the report.
Gbortsu was given a certified blood draw, and police say the test results showed he was a .11 on the certified test. He was transported to Marshall County Jail, where he was booked on preliminary charges of operating while intoxicated above .08 and OWI endangerment.
Formal charges will be determined by the Marshall County Prosecutor’s Office.
Suspects are considered innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
