The Bourbon Town Council held their regular meeting for August.
The Council approved participation in a program offered by the Indiana Department of Rural Water that funds an apprentice to be trained in water certifications. The funding for the apprentice’s training is made available through the Indiana Finance Authority (IFA) for almost two years. At the end of that training the town will then decide if they would like to offer a permanent position of employment to the apprentice; if not the apprentice can apply for other permanent positions with their certifications. There is a waiting list for the opportunity; Bourbon will be placed on the waiting list. Once Bourbon is officially approved for the grant they will advertise for applicants for the apprenticeship.
Two quotes were submitted for an EMS generator and was awarded to Banner Electric.
The Council decided not to move forward at this time on ordinances for electric bikes and one wheels noting concerns including the challenge to regulate without Vehicle Identification Numbers and the desire to avoid government over reach by requiring children to register every scooter, electric bike and one wheel in town.
