Plymouth Police Department officers responded to the area of Jefferson and Michigan Street Monday, July 8 at approximately 1:20 a.m. ET after it was reported that a man was yelling and hitting vehicles at Red D Mart.
The suspect left the scene, traveling east on Jefferson Street. A Plymouth officer located the vehicle as it turned south onto Liberty Street.
A traffic stop was initiated and the driver was identified as 30-year-old Matthew Schultz of Plymouth. Schultz was reportedly found to be intoxicated and nearly three times over the legal limit.
He was taken into custody and transported to the Marshall County Jail pending criminal charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated-over .15 and operating while intoxicated-endangering.
Formal charges will be determined by the Marshall County Prosecutor’s Office.
Suspects are considered innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
