Plymouth Police officers were dispatched to the area of Applebee’s for a possibly impaired driver Thursday, July 11.
Police arrived and observed a gray Discovery driven by Jared Knapp, 30, of Plymouth, pulling out of the parking lot of Applebee’s. The vehicle sped straight through the stop sign and five lanes of traffic, according to the report. The report further stated that the vehicle then accelerated at a high rate of speed down Pilgrim Lane until coming to a stop at Western Ave.
During the investigation, police say the odor of alcoholic beverages was detected. Knapp agreed to take field sobriety testing of which all tests indicated alleged impairment. Knapp was transported to the hospital where he was given a certified chemical test which indicated that his blood alcohol content was over twice the legal limit.
Knapp was transported to Marshall County Jail where he was booked on preliminary charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated with a prior conviction, operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangering a person under 18, and neglect of a dependent.
Formal charges will be determined by the Marshall County Prosecutor’s Office.
Suspects are considered innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
