Triton School Superintendent Jeremy Riffle updated the school board on repairs and maintenance continuing in the corporation facilities during their meeting last week.
The sound system updates for the football field and the main high school gym are essentially complete but will be fine-tuned as needed.
Roof repair on the elementary building and sidewalk repair continue. The main high school parking lot at the school will be sealed and coated during the annual IHSAA “Moratorium Week” when traffic to those areas will be at a minimum.
Certain sections of hallways and classrooms at the high school will be painted over the summer.
In other news, Riffle stated that the corporation’s reading and math scores showed growth but the staff “continues to want more” in those areas and is currently involved in training at the elementary level in the science of reading.
The board also approved the raising of the level of minimum purchases requiring special approval from $10,000 to $50,000. The request was based on inflation, i.e., some simple repairs can run from $2-3 thousand dollars and more than one service call could use up the lower amount quickly. Any purchase past that amount up to $150,000 would require three quotes and anything over that would require a formal bid process.
