A Plymouth man was arrested after officers from the Plymouth Police Department were called to a residence in the 400 block of Indiana Avenue for a woman asking for police assistance a few minutes before midnight.
Upon arriving, police say the victim said a man had choked her in front of the children and had physically tried to prevent her from calling for help. The woman had visible injuries, according to the report.
Medics were requested to the scene and the woman was transported to the hospital.
The man involved, 33-year-old Monuma Cineas, was taken into custody and transported to the Marshall County Jail. He was booked on preliminary charges of strangulation, domestic battery in the presence of a child, and interference with the reporting of a crime.
Formal charges will be determined by the Marshall County Prosecutor’s Office.
Suspects are considered innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
