The Marshall County Tourism Commission met for the first time on May 23. They will meet again today (Monday, June 3) at 5:30 p.m. in the Commissioners Room 203 of the Marshall County Building.

During their first meeting, they organized Commission Officers; Brian Teall President, Wyatt Stephan Vice President, Angel Balsley Secretary, and Tracy Houin Treasurer. Other members include Mark Damore Jr who was not present, Matt Hovermale, and Jim Hartung.

The Commission is not to be confused with the Marshall County Convention and Visitors Bureau. In the past, both entities were represented by the same people. That has changed since the new appointments have been made to the Commission. Moving forward the Commission will have to determine how they want to move forward.

The Commission discussed legal representation, Attorney Jim Clevenger agreed to provide interim counsel until permanent counsel is found.

Board insurance, creation of board by-laws, and a creation of a new bank account was discussed.

Clevenger agreed to gather information from the previous Marshall County Tourism Commission as well as the Marshall County Convention and Visitors Bureau. As of the May meeting, attempts at communication had not been responded to.

At this time, the Commission is holding public meetings. Those meeting times and locations will be published in compliance with State Law.
