Marijuana Arrest

Officers with the Plymouth Police Department were flagged down by a man Sunday, June 2 just after 4:30 p.m. ET who advised they had just left the Super 8 Motel and said there was a van sitting by the trees with several people in the vehicle he believed to be smoking marijuana.

When the officer arrived in the area, police say they got a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle as they pulled up. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Edward Torrez, 33, of Illinois.
While officers were doing a vehicle search, they reportedly located 29.8 grams of marijuana, 7.8 grams of cocaine, a scale, and drug paraphernalia. Torrez allegedly admitted to officers that the items located in the vehicle belonged to him.

Torrez was then taken into custody and transported to Marshall County Jail, where he was booked on preliminary charges of possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana, and possession of paraphernalia.

Formal charges will be determined by the Marshall County Prosecutor’s Office.

Suspects are considered innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
