Traffic Stops Lead to Arrests

The Plymouth Police Department arrested three people in three separate traffic stop incidents

A Plymouth Police Officer initiated a traffic stop on North Street near Center Street Saturday, May 4 at 1:20 a.m. ET for a vehicle with a registration that had expired approximately 1 year ago.

The officer identified the driver of the vehicle as Jonathan Harrison, 37, of Plymouth. Police say Harrison was determined to have a license that was suspended prior, a misdemeanor offense, and was taken into custody. He was booked into the Marshall County Jail.

Later that morning just before 5:30 a.m. ET an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that was reportedly traveling 70 mph in a posted 50 mph zone. The driver of the vehicle, Satyanarayana Mekarthi, 25, of Chicago, was found to have never been issued a valid driver’s license. Mekarthi was placed under arrest and booked into the Marshall County Jail on a preliminary charge of operating a vehicle without ever obtaining a license.

The same day at 7:47 p.m. ET, officers conducted a traffic stop on Western Avenue south of Council Drive on a vehicle that was reportedly speeding. During the investigation, the driver, Katherine Hernandez, 18, of Plymouth, had a suspended drivers license.

Hernandez was taken into custody and transported to the Marshall County Jail.

Formal charges will be determined by the Marshall County Prosecutor’s Office.

Suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
