Plymouth Man Arrested after Brief Pursuit

A Plymouth man was arrested Monday, May 13 after a short pursuit.

At 3:30 p.m. ET, a Plymouth Police officer was attempting to detain Joseph Vervynckt in relation to previous calls, according to the report.

Police say Vervynckt fled the officer in a brown Buick, west on Lincoln Highway. Vervynckt was reportedly driving speeds in excess of 100 mph and swerving in and out of traffic in an attempt to flee.

The pursuit came to an end in the 17000 block of Lincoln Highway.

Marshall County Sheriff’s Department officers and Indiana State Police assisted in the incident.

Vervynckt was apprehended and transported to the Marshall County Jail and lodged on a preliminary felony charge of resisting law enforcement, and misdemeanor charges of resisting law enforcement and reckless driving.

Formal charges will be determined by the Marshall County Prosecutor’s Office.

Suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
