The Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety heard updates and approved some requests during their regular meeting.
Police Chief John Weir requested board approval to extend a conditional offer of employment to the top candidates who applied to the two vacant positions on the force in order to move forward with the next step of required evaluations. Attorney Jeff Houin instructed the board that Chief Weir has the authority to extend the conditional offers of employment without board approval; the board did move forward with a formal approval.
Street Superintendent Jim Marquardt informed the board that City Engineer Daniel Sellers did get the plans completed for the paving projects. Advertising indicates that bids should be returned to the City of Plymouth for the June 10 meeting. There will be a pre-bid meeting May 23 to review the plans.
The board also approved the request made by St. Michael’s Catholic Church and School to hold a Holy Procession Walk to observe Corpus Christi on June 2. The walk does not require street closures.
The board also approved the request made by Wild Rose Moon to close three parking spaces on Michigan Street from May 20 to July 3 for the completion of some mason work on the front of the building.
