An Akron, Ohio driver was arrested Friday, May 10 after an alleged reckless driving incident in Plymouth.
Officers with the Plymouth Police Department were running radar in the area of U.S. 30 West of Oak Drive when they noticed a vehicle traveling east on U.S. 30 reportedly going 93 mph in a 50 mph zone.
When the officer turned around on the vehicle, police say the vehicle cut across in front of other vehicles to get off U.S. 30 and turned south on Oak Drive at a fast speed. The vehicle then turned into Sherwood Tire and tried losing the officer by pulling toward the back of the building, according to the report.
The driver was later identified as Alaya Douangpanya, 18, of Akron, Ohio. Douangpanya was taken into custody and transported to Marshall County Jail and booked on a preliminary charge of reckless driving.
Formal charges will be considered by the Marshall County Prosecutor’s Office.
Suspects are considered innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
