Bourbon Town Council Hears New Business

The Bourbon Town Council approved the allocation of the Restricted Opioid Settlement Funds to Marshall County HOPE in the amount of $5,737. Previously known as Project HOPE, the consortium was previously funded by a Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Grant in the amount of $3 million. That funding ended in December 2023.

The group has a desire to continue the work that was established during that time which includes full time peer recovery coaches.

In other news, one bid was submitted for the Community Crossings projects in Bourbon from Paving Solutions in the amount of $177,121.80. A consultant from Jones Petrie Rafinski (JRP) reviewed the bid and recommended that the council approve. it; the council approved it unanimously. The funding will be used for micro seal in designated areas including a portion of Center St.

The Council found Ct Polymers LLC to be in substantial compliance for their tax abatement; the town approved continued tax abatement. Clerk-Treasurer Kim Berger informed the Council that employment has increased from 24 to 74; salaries total $3.4 million.

Under old business, the Council approved the part-time job description and hire of a part-time – seasonal employee for the Public Works Department. Superintendent Roger Terry anticipates using the extra help during the summer through leaf removal in the fall. The position will be advertised and interviews will be conducted in compliance with state and local ordinances.
