In February, the Triton School Board heard a report on options for financing capital projects that would be available to the school in the coming year.
Triton has a bond issue that will fully mature soon and that would make it possible for the corporation to undertake some capital projects necessary without affecting the tax rate. On Monday, the board held a public hearing and adopted several resolutions that would make those projects possible.
Superintendent Jeremy Riffle gave the board a list of projects that would be undertaken for around $1.5 million dollars at both the Jr./Sr. High School and the Elementary School.
The most costly item on the list will be a project to move the girl’s softball field onto the campus from its current location in the city park. The move would make it possible for the school to host IHSAA events such as tournament games.
Other projects in the list would be general maintenance-type projects that would not exceed $50,000 including the railing at the high school auditorium, and combining the fire safety system for the activity center and the main school building into one unit. The list would also include maintenance to the tennis courts and upgrades to other areas around the schools.
