The Plymouth Common Council met for their regular meeting on Monday, March 25.
Director of Marshall County Solid Waste Management District (SWMD) Marianne Peters presented a brief proposal for a Marshall County Yard Waste Management Facility to manage material that is too big to take to a landfill. She invited the Council to attend a meeting among all the municipalities to discuss the proposed facility in further detail on May 15. She also presented a copy of the annual report for their review at their convenience.
In other news, the Council approved four CF1 Tax Abatement compliance reports.
The Council also received the first draft of proposed updates to the Employee Handbook.
Human Resource Administrator Jenn Klingerman highlighted the proposed changes to the vacation policy. The Employee Benefits Committee recommended an opportunity to accrue vacation time as early as the first year of employment. The update is an effort to enhance recruitment. Another proposed change for long term employees is a potential “buy back” option for compensation of up to one week of vacation time. No official action was taken. This draft of the proposal was just submitted for consideration at this time.
The Council approved the acceptance of a $50 donation from Hoosier Old Wheels to be used for dog food for the Plymouth Police Department K-9.
The Council also approved the acceptance of a $1,000 donation from Collins and Company to go toward the Mayor’s Month of Music.
